Facial Expression Augmented Reality: An Approach Making Interaction Design with Facial Expression
This blog is for Mg Lee's Mater degree_ Thesis process_ supervised by David Hall(opiumblue.blogspot.com). It contains process of an approach making facial information based augmented reality design. It categorised three elements. Augmented reality research, Facial tracking tech research, Mg's design sketches. After design process is developed the research part will be separated to research blog.
Final project process
Making facial movement with masked face.
Measure expression from face movement.
Coding.
Exaggerating facial movement.
System requirement for exhibition.
What issues left?
1.
2. Augmented Visual.
Mask illusion
6 different shape of masks are provided during exhibition.
If whole space wall face is filled with projection.
These 6 masks have different theme .
1. self- disillusionment
2. Hallucination
3. Ripped eyes
4. Self-pity
5. Anxiety
6. Creepy Smile

Basic research about emotions
The Expression of the Emotions
Charles Darwin
'Darwin gathered evidence that some emotions have a universal facial expression, cited examples and published pictures suggesting that emotions are evident in other animals, and proposed principles explaining why particular expressions occur for particular emotions .'(Quote from 'Darwin, Deception, and Expression', Paul Ekman)

Sniff / Karolina Sobecka
Sniff in Sao Paulo, in daylight from karolina sobecka on Vimeo.
Karolina Sobecka(http://www.gravitytrap.com) is a media artist.
Sniff is an interactive projection in a storefront window. As the viewer walks by the projection, his movements and gestures are tracked by a computer vision system. A CG dog follows the viewer, dynamically responds to his gestures and changes his behavior based on the state of engagement with the viewer. (http://www.gravitytrap.com/artwork/sniff)
Very Impressive.
